 Terms and conditions

1. Opening hours are between 10:00 and 16:00, Monday through to Friday and excluding bank holidays.

 Health and Welfare

2. A health check will be completed following the arrival of your dog at the grooming salon. If there is a suspicion that the dog has fleas, an injury, is unwell or has an infectious disease, it may not be allowed to remain at the grooming salon for its groom, and the owner will be advised on how best to proceed.

3. Your dog must be vaccinated, and vaccinations must be kept up to date, prior to their groom. Completed vaccination records must be presented at initial registration/first groom, and then following each booster vaccination.

4. Your dog must be up to date with flea treatments. If you suspect that your dog has fleas, it must receive appropriate flea treatment prior to entering the grooming salon. Any dog found to have fleas, will be sent home immediately and the cancellation fee will apply.

5. All medical conditions and any aggressive tendencies must be disclosed prior to the groom, in order that your dog’s health and welfare can be properly managed.

6. The safety of the groomer and your dog is of the utmost importance. We reserve the right to refuse to groom your dog if we feel that their behaviour poses a risk to either themselves or the groomer.

7. The Animal Health and Welfare Act 2006, states that a dog must be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease. Matting to a dogs coat will cause discomfort and/or pain, any dog found to have matting that is either too severe to groom out, or in a sensitive area, will have the mats removed with clippers.

8. Your dog must be fit and healthy. Grooming sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner’s risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that we cannot be held liable for.

9. We ask that female dogs that have not been neutered are not brought to the grooming parlour whilst they are in season.

10. All female dogs that are suspected or confirmed in pup cannot be groomed, as this can lead to termination of pregnancy. We can complete a hygiene clip, where instructed by a vet.

11. In leaving your dog at the grooming salon, you agree that the groomer cannot be held responsible for any mishap caused by non-disclosure of the dog’s medical conditions or behaviour.

12. The owner understands and agrees that whilst the health and welfare of their dog is afforded every attention, their dog enters the grooming salon at the owner’s risk. In the event of injury or illness, a vet may be consulted and unless it can clearly be shown that we are liable, all costs in connection with and in the carrying out of this instruction shall be at the owner’s expense.

13. If at any point the groomer feels that it would not be in the dogs best interest to continue or complete a groom, due to factors of health and welfare, the groom will cease immediately and the groomer and owner will discuss how best to proceed.

14. If the owner is dissatisfied with the groom, the groomer will offer to make immediate changes to rectify this. If it is not possible to make suitable amendments, for reasons such as the coat is too short, the groomer will take reasonable steps to ensure that the owners requirements are met at future grooms.

15. The groomer may refuse to action a groom where it has health and welfare implications for the dog. The groomer will explain her decision in full, and will make suggestions on how the owners brief might be achieved without compromising the dog.

16. The owner agrees that photographs of their dog may be taken, in order to ensure that the owner’s wishes are fulfilled at every groom. These photographs may be used to promote the grooming salon through the website or social media.

 Payment/Additional Charges

17. Preferred payment method is by debit or credit card, however cash is also accepted.

18. The owner agrees that payment must be made on the collection of their dog. A deposit of 50% will be taken for first time appointments, or at the groomer’s discretion.  The price list contains the estimated costs for each breed and type, however, further costs may incur where additional work is undertaken.

19. Additional charges will apply for; late cancellations (within 24 hours of the groom appointment), if the owner arrives more than 20 minutes late for the appointment or collection, if the dog is particularly difficult and requires additional time to complete the groom (either behaviourally or with extensive matting).

20. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointed groom will be charged in full. Exceptions to this policy will be at the groomer’s discretion.

21. Missed appointments will be charged in full and subsequent appointments will not be made until payment is complete.

22. Late drop off or collection of more than 20 minutes will incur additional costs of £5 per half hour (£5 for the initial 20–30 mins, £10 for up to one hour, £15 for up to 90 minutes, etc).

23. Additional time due to behavioural issues. When a dog is particularly distressed, either due to pain or stress, it is necessary to attempt to make the groom more comfortable or enjoyable. The dog may require regular breaks, slower handling skills or distraction techniques, this is likely to add significant time to the groom and additional charges will reflect this. All grooms are attempted to be completed within a reasonable time frame, as it can be extremely tiring and stressful for the dog.

24. Additional time due to extensive matting. A clip off can be painful and particularly distressing for a dog, and is unlikely to be completed within one session in order to minimise any negative response to future grooms or groomer. The groomer will most likely recommend that a clip off takes place over two separate sessions, which will allow the groomer the additional time to reduce anxiety, for the dog to have regular breaks and to prevent the dog from experiencing pain and discomfort.

25. Additional charges may be incurred where the owner requires additional work on top of the breed standard (e.g. clipping off Spaniels furnishings on legs and skirt on stomach), or where a dog is far larger than the breed standard.
